If BB Social is the bar epitome of a Parisian townhouse, Chez Charles is the back alley bar that everyone wish they'd stumble upon during their visit in the French capital. It's lively, full of catchy people and playing the kind of French music that anyone not being French would never understand. In short - it's wonderfully inaccessible! The bartenders have an eclectic mix of Negronis and tequila shots to take care of, and as such their focus is understandably not on the talkative side regarding their cocktails. But then again - you don't go here for the drinks, you come for the feeling of not belonging, but wishing so hard you did. From now on, you never have to go to Paris for that feeling. Worth mentioning is also the dining room - serving excellent fine dining food, of course with a French touch - so start with an all-inclusive dinner and then let the evening turn into an all-nighter in the adjacent bar.
Come here and dance the night away with live acts or French DJs, and leave in the early morning hours with a smile on your face.
Atmosphere: 6/8
A small enough place to feel comfortably packed with not so large groups of people, good music and a perfect spot for people-watching.
Cocktails: 5/8
Decent level of cocktails, albeit there’s no menu to be found - the bartenders are solid though, and perform the classics at an approved level.
Bartenders: 5/8
The span of drinks ordered forces the bartenders to work hard, and by that a bit of their magic touch is lost - there are glimpses of creative knowledge shining through though; persistence wins!
Ice: 4/8
Small ice cubes are consistently rolled out with the cocktails - don’t they have big clear ice cubes in France?
