Nick and Scott’s strong contender for best rooftop bar in Dubai has been around for just over two years, but during that time they’ve made a deep impression on the scene - Folly is a well-known name, and even though it’s hard to find in the maze of Souk Madinat, it’s always well-visited. As mentioned below, the view is the greatest benefit of this place, anywhere you’re seated you’ll have something beautiful to rest your eyes on. Some deficiencies in the bar stock had me wonder - but for sundowners and maybe a date night - this place is perfect.
Atmosphere: 6/8
The views are truly spectacular, with a Madinat below your feet that seem to be constructed to amaze you (which probably is the case, actually). But - call me needy - a bit more swanky furniture and a more well-sorted bar stock would be advisable.
Cocktails: 5/8
Cocktails are produced with a certain no frills determination, which is welcoming. The finishing touches are missing though, and a bar without rye whisky is like love without kisses.
Bartenders: 5/8
Ambitious bartenders weigh up some of the flaws in execution, but please give the main bartender on the top floor some company, he’s sweating pearls due to all the orders.
Ice: 5/8
Big ice cubes at least vouch for a slow dilution of the cocktails - now take the next step and make the ice clear for the visual impact.
