The pictures from The Cigar Room in various magazines and articles are all showing the same thing - this place should be one for the books. In situ, it’s once again evident that camera angles and staging go a long way - the place is crowded (and unfortunately not with people). The most impressive feature here though is the Louis XIII Jeroboam - with a listed price exceeding 30,000 USD, it’s definitely not for the faint-hearted. The Cigar Room also seems to double as tailor shop, which is a good thing actually - I would definitely go and get suited up at a tailor who served proper cocktails and had an apt playlist (or even better, a small jazz trio or so).
Come for the impressive contents of the huge humidors, add a ceremonial cocktail while you listen to the waves out in the darkness.
Atmosphere: 4/8
A totally overcrowded room with albeit quality leather armchairs and sofas - the bar should be twice as large to host all of them. Add to that a bit confused decorations (is it a cigar lounge, a tailor or a furniture showroom?) - you can do better.
Cocktails: 5/8
Up to the mark cocktails that do the job, but not so much more.
Bartenders: 6/8
A pleasant surprise - the bartender was very forthcoming with a friendly and knowledgeable manner, and alone kept all the guests happy.
Ice: 5/8
Big ice cubes is definitely a good start, for the visual effect - go for the clear ice as well.
