Having opened already in 2004, Pierchic has been one of the top destinations for all romantic date nighters for probably more than a decade - and from a date experience point of view they do deliver. Everything from the view to the location and food is exceptional, unfortunately to the extent that the prices tend to be reach that end of the scale as well. Being one that prefers to sit in the bar, it’s quite evident that the bar is more of a transfer station - one drink, and then your table is ready. In one of my visits, the staff even seem to forget they have a guest in the bar, but politeness and eagerness to do right next time make up for it. When it comes to cocktails and the bar in itself, it is quite evident that this place is not one for the aficionados though; you don’t come unless you’re having dinner here, and truth to be told - that’s ok. There are other places out there more suited for a cocktail all-nighter - but if you’re celebrating with your loved one(s) - at least once, this place is a must.
If you’re in Madinat and up for some scenic photo shooting of Burj Al Arab, and a cocktail or two without ambitions to stay all night - don’t hesitate.
Atmosphere: 5/8
While being the perfect spot for a romantic dinner tête-à-tête, the atmosphere for cocktail imbibing leaves some boxes to be ticked. But it’s quite an experience to walk through Madinat to finally take the tour down the pier - a magical stroll getting to the actual bar, that is.
Cocktails: 5/8
Decent cocktails that all seem to follow the nautical theme - seashells, mermaids and dolphins are all part of the show.
Bartenders: 5/8
Bartenders that appear eager to follow the concept - requests out of the box put them to test, with various outcomes.
Ice: 4/8
Small ice cubes in all the different cocktails - you can do better than this! The footfall should allow at least for proper big ice cubes, maybe even clear ice..
