Ramusake, JBR

Doubletree by Hilton in JBR seems to be a destination for the cocktail lovers in search of a genuine atmosphere - Ramusake doesn’t disappoint in that aspect; sightly artworks, gorgeous views from the terrace, and an interior that actually feel Japanese. Just like The Maine it’s hidden away in a parking garage, so it’s not that common to mishappenly just stroll by, but then again - is there anywhere in Dubai where you move around randomly? Other than the atmosphere, there are some things to wish for though.

Come here for some delicious Japanese food, enjoy the congenial furnishings and artwork, but go for the safe cards from the bar.

Atmosphere: 7/8
This hidden paragon is full of intimacy, captivating details and beautiful decoration - add to that the views over Bluewaters and JBR, and it’s close to being a winner.

Cocktails: 5/8
An ambitious cocktail menu unfortunately doesn’t weigh up the uninspired completed cocktails - better attention to detail and keep track on the needed ingredients in your own signature cocktails is a good start.

Bartenders: 5/8
Not sure whether or not it’s lack of inquisitive guests or the fact that there are good nights and bad nights, but the staff seems jaded.

Ice: 4/8
Let’s take this once again - all the bars out there with small ice cubes should contact Doug Bonn at the Physics and Astronomy Department at the University of British Columbia, a professor and hence expert in low-temperature physics and superconductors, and ask him if it’s true that a big ice cube melts slower compared to the corresponding amount of small ice cubes. Either that, or trust me - it is true.
