Avli is proving to be a worthy successor to Laluz, the Catalan restaurant that just spent a few years in DIFC, and the bar is following the standard set by the restaurant. With a menu full of pleasant surprises, it’s easy to find favorites and also amusing to read the story behind the cocktails. The prices are set moderately, and by that Avli is definitely a bar to visit when in DIFC - perhaps while waiting for Galaxy Bar to open (10pm), but beware though - you may end up staying in Avli all night long, it’s that nice. The attentive reader also notices the full-on concept of the Greek horse; ice stamp, zest stamp and lacquer stamp - impressive.
Come here to start your evening with a nice Greek version of the Old Fashioned, or go all-in and stay for dinner as well, and finish up in Galaxy Bar for nightcaps.
Cocktail: Ne-Gro-Nai
Atmosphere: 6/8
A nicely decorated bar with some nice touches referring to mothership Greece. Predominantly dinner guests having an aperitif though.
Cocktails: 6/8
Impressive cocktails with interesting references to Greek mythology and urban legends - some clear connections with the sister bar Galaxy as well.
Bartenders: 6/8
Clearly a competent suite of bartenders, given that they can easily switch between Avli and the even more cocktail-focused neighbor Galaxy Bar.
Ice: 7/8
Big clear ice cubes with the iconic horse as ice stamp - if this place had a bigger footfall, they should definitely opt for the big ice block to carve from, they have the space.
