After having read about Joey Ghazal and his thoughts about what Dubai needs, it was like a breath of fresh air to set foot in the Maine - even though the place has existed only a few years, you get the feeling that it’s been there forever, and with the quirky entrance through a parking garage, it’s an eye opener even before entering. The food is solid, and the cocktails do little to disappoint too. This may not be the best cocktail bar in Dubai, but it’s definitely one of the most well-balanced restaurants I’ve visited - they’re not trying too hard, they’re not trying to buy success - they are honest and crowd-pleasing in the most efficient way; by giving people what they unknowingly need. Kudos to the bartender Darko Gjorgjievski for always keeping up a good spirit behind the bar, a welcoming smile goes a long way.
Come early and stay late, chuck oysters and drink classic cocktails - this is as good as it gets.
Atmosphere: 8/8
Fantastic atmosphere with an enticing interior that makes you look forward to your next visit even before the current one is over - add to that a great playlist and a comfortable murmur of people, and you’ve got yourself a winner.
Cocktails: 5/8
Refined cocktails that deliver what they should - not too much excitement though, but nothing to be disappointed by either.
Bartenders: 6/8
A team of bartenders that seem to have worked together for a long time, and a quick gallup indeed shows that the talent management team of Maine is doing a good job.'
Ice: 6/8
They know how to treat the cocktails here - big ice cubes with clear ice. I’m not even sure they should get an ice stamp - this place is perfect the way it is.
