One of Dubai’s true institutions, having been situated in DIFC for more than ten years, Zuma proudly boasts full tables each and every night, and the bar is following the restaurant’s example. Given the calibre of the bartenders, I'd expect a more elaborate cocktail menu (something like the one of Sexy Fish in London), so they can still improve, but having said that, they do know what they're doing. Consistently being voted as one of the best restaurants in the Middle East though, this place is a magnet for the people in the Financial Centre, so expect a crowd - but they all know what they’re paying for; quality.
Come here during late afternoon or early evening, and you may be in for a ride with the extremely well-versed bartenders. Or come for the food - it’s amazing.
Atmosphere: 6/8
Simply too many people, any given night. Of course a nice buzz, but to have that tête-à-tête with the bartender discussing the best bitters for Old Fashioneds, for example, is just not happening.
Cocktails: 6/8
Some seriously worthy cocktails, with a slight focus on the Japanese and Sake.
Bartenders: 8/8
This crew is on the top of the game - the best line-up of bartenders in Dubai, orchestrated by Jimmy Barrat.
Ice: 8/8
Big ice blocks, one guy dedicated to chopping the ice cubes (sawed from the ice block) to spheres and of course an ice stamp. This, ladies and gentlemen, is ice!
