Being a private club located in DIFC, it sure has to be hard to keep up with the competition, and Capital Club is indeed struggling. The bar is a decent one with bartenders that can mix up any classic cocktail you like, but given the fact that it’s members only, they can’t market themselves in any way. So as far as a cocktail bar goes, they are left behind while their neighbors sail away into the fog. Of course it’s always intriguing when a place has private Louis XIII lockers (with a retail price exceeding 3,500 USD, it’s not for the faint-hearted), and anything stating “members only” is a safe way to light up the I-need-to-get-in-there sign (lex NYX & Socialista), but it’s not enough.
If you’re a member, pay a visit and say hi to the gentleman bartender from South Africa - and if you’re filthy rich, buy your own bottle of Louis XIII cognac.
Atmosphere: 4/8
Being a private members only club, it’s bound to be lacking that busy feel of any other bar in DIFC.
Cocktails: 4/8
Nothing bad about these cocktails, but nothing impressive either.
Bartenders: 5/8
The bartenders are doing what’s expected from them, and then some - but it’s got to be demoralizing working in this setting if you have ambitions and ideas.
Ice: 4/8
Small ice cubes all around.
