Having read about the work that has been put into the Cadier Bar the last couple of years - interior design redone 2018, creative leader Emil Areng and bar manager Christian Grevius (now ex bar manager) also joined last year - I managed to squeeze in a visit during a recent trip to Sweden, and if you are in the neighborhood - it’s definitely worth a visit. The long bar desk demands long sessions with close access to the bartenders - indulge yourself in the creative cocktail menu, and keep your fingers crossed that you get one of the eager and ambitious bartenders, and you’re in for a ride.
Come here to soak up the historic atmosphere and let yourself be swept away by the signature cocktails with a Nordic touch.
Atmosphere: 7/8
Situated in the Grand Hôtel in Stockholm, a hotel with ancestry back to the 1800s, the bar has a lot to live up to - it’s nicely decorated, and with a more thought-out lighting concept, it’d be a winner.
Cocktails: 7/8
The signature cocktails range from quirky to astounding, with a few in-betweeners that needs to be worked on.
Bartenders: 6/8
As creative leader of the bar, Emil Areng is a beacon of invention and skill, and my hopes are that the rest of the team will learn from him - some of them need to.
Ice: 6/8
Clear ice cubes and ingenious out-of-the-box ways of using ice - no ice block, but the Swedish market is perhaps not ready yet, and while I do know they have ice stamps, they’re not using them.
